“Baguio City Jail male dorm gets Safety Seal certification.”
BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Jail Male Dorm (BCJMD) has obtained a Safety Seal certification from the Department of the Interior and
Local Government (DILG) that shows its compliance with the safety standards.
Jail Superintendent Mary Ann Ollaging-Tresmanio, warden of the BCJMD, in a message on Thursday, said the seal affirms their compliance to the minimum health standards set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) “to keep our facility Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)-free”.
She said the safety seal is important being a physical manifestation of the proper observance of health protocols. “It gives us the assurance that we are on the right track in keeping our facility safe and healthy for all personnel and persons deprived of liberty (PDL),” she said.
Tresmanio said the Safety Seal conferred reflects the sincere effort of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) to the directive of DILG and IATF to adopt the use of the digital contact tracing application.
She said they were told by the DILG that the BCJMD is the first government facility in this city to receive the Safety Seal. The officer said the facility still observes the “e-dalaw” for the 334 PDL as a precaution from the possible entry of infection.
The warden added that they also continue to sanitize supplies brought in the facility as an added precaution.
Tresmanio said the 70 personnel of the male jail facility who are rendering duty and go home after their two-week tour of duty. He added these personnel are required to present a negative test result of the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.
The Safety Seal Certification Program aims to increase compliance of private and public entities with the minimum public health standards set by the government and the adoption and use of digital contact tracing.
