A historical mural re-illustrates how Balsigan Barangay got its name, which comes from the root word, BALSIG, meaning to cut the planks in pieces like the way our firewood was cut, in past times. This mural is one of the projects of City Councilor Leandro Yangot, Jr., whose goal is to beautify and further develop tourism in each barangay and to recognize the city as the ‘City of Murals’. The Balsigan mural was inaugurated on July 11, by barangay officials, residents and some city officials. According to Yangot, it is expected that up to 25 murals will be done in different barangays, before the end of this year.
