BCPO identifies four major traffic hotspots

BAGUIO CITY – Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) identified four (4) out of 31 rush hour hotspot areas here and is now the main focus of traffic management, BCPO Traffic Enforcement Unit chief Oliver Panabang said on Thursday.
Panabang mentioned Marcos Highway, Bokawkan Road, Naguilian Road, Magsaysay Flyover and General Luna Road.
In an interview, Panabang said the city has to cope with so many problems arising from its status as a highly urbanized city, one of which are traffic related problems brought about by the increased number of malfunctioning traffic lights and vehicles plying the city’s
various road corridors.
The local government continues to exert extra effort to remedy the worsening traffic situation, especially around the central business district and roads leading to premier tourist destinations, including traffic lights that are not functioning.
“Well, matagal naman na nating ginagawa sa critical area na yan is dinedployan natin ng mga traffic beat man, so nakikita niyo bakit naka-open ang traffic light is may nagmamando sa gitna.
Minsan ayaw naming iclose traffic light kasi the more na i-close namin, the more na di na babalik pag medyo okay naman na yung traffic.
There is something wrong with the light siguro at kailangan na icalibrate,” he added.
Panabang also said it is the responsibility of these local officials to educate the public on traffic rules and to remind their constituents not to park their vehicles at the roadside considering the traffic congestion it causes.
