BCPO NABS NOTORIOUS CARNAPPER, RECOVERS STOLEN SUV

Operatives of the Baguio City Police Office City Intelligence Unit (CIU) arrested a notorious carnapper while aboard a stolen sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Lake Drive, Baguio City on November 30, 2022.
The male suspect, a 24- year-old male notorious for his “rent-tangay” modus operandi operating in different areas of Luzon particularly in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Laguna, etc. He used several fake identities, fake IDs and names.

According to the reports submitted to Acting City Director PCol. Francisco Bulwayan Jr., the suspect was the subject of a warrant of arrest issued by the Baguio City Regional Trial Court for carnapping with a fixed bail of P200,000 dated November 28, 2022. Upon his arrest, police operatives inspected the vehicle he was on and it was discovered that the plate number was replaced. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the said SUV was included in the list of stolen vehicles reported on July 25, 2022 in La Trinidad, Benguet and this was also confirmed by the owner himself.

The recovered SUV was turned over to the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station where another case of carnapping was filed against the suspect. Several victims of “renttangay” gathered at the BCPO CIU office to file complaints against the suspect who failed to return their vehicles after renting them. The accused is currently under the custody of the CIU for proper documentation and disposition, while multiple charges for violation of RA 10883, or the New Anti- Carnapping Act of 2016 are being prepared against him.
