BCPO reminds proper use of facemask, shield when strolling at city parks

Baguio City Police Office City Director PCol. Allen rae Co is reminding the public to always adhere to basic health protocols such as proper wearing of facemask and shield while strolling around city parks.

The reminder comes as 78 individuals were apprehended the first day of October for health protocol violation while promenading at Burnham Park. Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong ordered the
crackdown on health protocol violators to minimize local transmission of the Coronavirus disease as the city government started easing up on quarantine restrictions – a baby step towards the ‘new normal’ way of life.

BCPO Station 7 Chief PMaj. Marlo G. Evasco said of the 78 apprehended, 1 opted to pay the fine of Php1,000 for the first offense of not wearing a facemask. City Ordinance No. 45, series of 2020 mandates the wearing of face mask by all persons within the territorial jurisdiction of Baguio City until the threat of Covid is completely eliminated or during the declared state of public health emergency and providing penalties for violation starting June 1, 2020.

Two of the 78 apprehended on October 1 were made to pay the fine of Php500 for the first offense of no adhering to physical distancing in accordance to City Ordinance No. 46, series of 2020 “Imposing physical distancing in all activities in the City of Baguio.”

Meanwhile, 75 of those apprehended were warned and lectured on Executive Order No. 126, series of 2020 requiring the use of face shields in public places, markets, supermarkets, groceries,
malls, shopping centers and government offices as well as inside public transportation vehicles.
