LA TRINIDAD
Another Benguet boxer is a regional boxing champion and it is a woman. Buguias, Benguet born Jessebelle Pagaduan escaped a tough Pinchamok Thepjanda to claim the vacant World Boxing Council – Asia female flyweight belt last Thursday at the SpacePlus Night Club in Bangkok, Thailand. The Baguio raised, Benguet State University alum, who is now based in Quezon City, per her Facebook page, got the nod of all judges to score the unanimous decision
win over the hometown boxer.
Two of the judges scored it 78-74, while the third had a narrower tally of 77-75 in favor of the three-time world
challenger who needed to dig deep in her fighting experience to beat the big hearted Thai in the Highland Boxing Promotion presentation by La Trinidad born Brico Santig. The win saw Pagaduan improve to 14-2-1 (win-loss-draw), five of her wins coming by way of knock outs as she seeks to move closer to a possible fight to reigning world
champion Gabriella Celeste Alaniz (15-1, 6 KOs) of Argentina.
It was in February 28, nine years ago when Pagaduan suffered an accidental headbutt from Kuiko Seeser Ikehara that resulted to a technical draw for the WBO World Female Minimumweight title. Pagaduan won the Games and Amusement Board Philippineboxer s female minimumweight title in May 18, 2013 with a majority decision
win over Lady Love Sampton. In July 27 that year, she successfully defended the title with a third round technical
knockout win over Carleans Rivas.
