Benguet School Board allocates P41.5M for education

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – To sustain learning skills, the Provincial School Board (PSB) recently has allocated a total of P41.558 in support to Basic Education both in elementary and secondary.
This is based on the obtained PSB Resolution No. 6, S.2021 which shows the approved budget for priority education projects under the Special Education Fund (SEF) for CY 2022.
On top of the total support to Basic Education pegged at P16.797 million include the the honorarium for 62 volunteer teachers at P15k/ month for 10 months amounting to P9.3 million ,and also honorarium for 191 Learning Support Aid (LSA) at P2k/month for six months costing to P2.292 million.
In an interview, Governor Melchor Diclas who is also the PSB chairman said the hiring of volunteer teachers will help the province’ education sector on learning modules which currently face-to-face instructions are not permitted based on education department order mainly due to the impact of the pandemic.
Diclas added that these so called LSAs were hired to distribute learning modules to students province wide.
Total support to Basic Education amounting to P16.797 million Support to Elementary Education Total support to elementary education was pegged at P33,860,220 which covers division and regional level activities – contest on illustration of contextualized stories for learners; festival of talents and press conferences (Sining ng Tanghalan,Tagisan ng Talino, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao,and Technolympics, among others.
And also a capital outlay for 17 infrastructure projects located in Bakun, Bokod Buguias, Itogon, Kibungan, Mankayan, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay.
These infra projects totaling P1.9 million include: construction of multi-purpose gymnasium, and improvement of other school facilities, among others.
Support to Secondary Education
Total support to secondary education amounting to P7,698,640 which also covers both in division and regional levels the following activities —Sining ng Tanghalan, Tagisan ng Talento, Technolympics, math and science festivals, among others.
And a total of P5M capital outlay for infrastructure projects – improvement of Benguet National High School (La Trinidad) worth P2M, and completion of Loo National High School Gym in Buguias at P3M.
Support to Sports Development-Provincial Meet
Some P2.159 million was appropriated as total support to provincial sports meet which covers ground preparation, athletes accreditation, and other MOOE like supplies, drugs and medicines, sports materials, telephone expenses(mobile), among others.
