Benguet village chief joins cannabis plantation raid

BAGUIO CITY(October 19, 2021) – Perhaps another first,  a village chief joined anti-narcotics operatives in a cannabis plantation raid in Kibungan, Benguet.
Cordillera police said Badeo, Kibungan barangay chairman Guilbert Amango joined operatives in raiding two plantation sites in sitio Aat-tog and Tableo, both in his village and seized 2,530 fully-grown marijuana plants and seedlings worth P106,000 cultivated at a 222 square meter land.
Kibungan policemen said the plantation sites were discovered through their persistent monitoring and coordination with Amango and other village officials.
In Bakun town also in Benguet, authorities conducted a five-day eradication operation that ended on Sunday discovering four separate plantation sites in sitios Tammangan, Lubban; and Legab, all in barangay Kayapa. More or less 5,420 pieces of full-grown marijuana and marijuana seedlings worth of Php 796,000.00 were burned during the operation.

Cordillera police said no cultivator was caught at the plantations though vowed to track down possible cultivators of the plantations in the area.
