BI CATCHES CHINESE, CAMBODIAN INSIDE EXCLUSIVE BENGUET SUBDIVISION

Tuba, Benguet (July 28, 2024)

A Chinese and a Cambodian national were caught at an exclusive subdivision in Tuba, Benguet Saturday morning. The two, who were identified as Wang Keping, 35, female and Khuon Moeurn, 37, male, were arrested by agents of the BI’s intelligence division regional intelligence unit in the Cordillera Administrative Region and the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).

According to BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr., as quoted by a BI press release only issued Sunday morning, the operation stemmed from information from the PAOCC about a Chinese woman being sought in relation to the recent raid against a POGO complex in Bamban, Tarlac. BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco issued a mission order to catch the target Chinese woman, the BI press release further said. But the BI target was nowhere to be found and instead Keping and Moeurn were seen in the vicinity.

The BI said after verification, it was found that Moeurn, who carried a Cambodian passport but a visa valid only until August 2020, was an undocumented and overstaying alien. Manahan accordingly said that while Wang had a working visa, she may be charged with violation of immigration laws for harboring an illegal alien. Both foreigners were brought to Manila for booking procedures and to undergo deportation proceedings. “No official confirmations if Roque’s house” Authorities refuse to confirm the connection of former Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque to the house where the two foreign nationals were caught.

Though neighbors, according to a highly placed government intelligence official, confirm the house is owned by Roque’s wife Maila. During the pandemic, the former presidential spokesman, had been frequenting Baguio and has had admitted he has a house at a subdivision here. Pinewoods subdivision though is territorially located in Tuba town, but its entrances are located at Baguio City.
