BILANG NG GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES CERTIFIED FARMERS, TUMAAS
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
Sa paggunita ng Highland Vegetable Week sa La Trinidad ay tumaas din ang bilang ng mga Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certified farmers, na may 402 bilang noong Hulyo 2024 sa lalawigan, ayon sa Benguet Provincial Agriculture Office. “Ito ay magandang bahagi ng production ng highland vegetable”, pahayag ni Delinia Juan, head ng Benguet Provincial Agriculture Office. Ayon din sa nakalap na datos, tumaas ng 24.12 meters per hectare ang productivity ng gulay noong 2023 at may kabuuang 48,331.97 hectares planted area at meron naman itong 51,346,62 area harvested.
Ang ahensiya ay may P14 milyon operating budget para sa taong 2024. Samantala, sa isang panayam kay Councilor Andy Colte, chairman ng Municipal Agricultural and Fisheries, ”I hope there won’t be a strong typhoon so that the
greenhouses won’t be damaged and the swampy area won’t be flooded. Our only threat is the typhoon.” Inaaksyonan naman ng Department of Agriculture ang mga pangangailangan ng organisasyon. “All the farmers here in La Trinidad have an agreement with the local government.” dagdag ni Colte.
