BIR-CAR COLLECTED RECORD P10.779 BILLION TAX IN 2024

The Bureau of Internal Revenue -Cordillera (BIR-CAR) nearly collected P11 billion in taxes last year-the highest posted nearly two decades. Based on BIR Central data, the BIR-Cordillera collected P10,799.45 billion in 2024, surpassing its P10,361.65 billion in 2023.
Earlier, BIR-CAR said Infrastructure projects both from the government and private sector ,property/ housing development to include condominiums ,power generation and distribution , public service activities, education services topped the list that largely contributed in the increase of revenue collection.

Notably, expansion of tax base ,simplifying key processes and documentary requirements, and the improved digitalization in tax system
marked the increase of tax collection. Baguio City remain the top contributor with P4,753.25 billion followed by Benguet P1,875.49 billion, Apayao-Kalinga P1,500.20 billion, Abra P1,484.84 billion. While Mountain Province P645.99 million and Ifugao P339.69 million. For the record, the region’s revenue collection during the pandemic ranged from P5 to almost P7 billion. In 2009 ,the P1,560.55 billion tax collection was the lowest in years. Meanwhile, in January (2025), the agency has collected P1,64.91 billion. Baguio City topped the list with P546.05M; Benguet P165M; Apayao-Kalinga P146.40 M;Ifugao P75.50M; Mountain Province P68.08M and Abra P63.88M.
