BAGUIO CITY
City officials recently congratulated and commended the delegation of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) for placing 9th in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa held in Marikina City last July 29 to August 5, 2023. In a resolution authored by Councilor Leandro B. Yangot, Jr., local legislators stated that the local government, the Department of Education– Cordillera and the entire Cordillera region are proud of such an outstanding, inspiring and remarkable achievement by the participating athletes and coaches.
Earlier, the Cordillera bagged the 9th place out of the 17 regions in the official medal tally of the 2023 Palarong Pambansa that was held in Marikina City as released on August 5, 2023. The CAR Fearless Highlanders won a total of 48 medals at the end of the weeklong sports competition with 17 of the medals gold, 17 silver and 14 bronze medals based on the official medal tally. Further, the elementary athletes garnered 5 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medals while the secondary athletes snared 12 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals.
The council pointed out that it is fitting and proper to accord due recognition to the athletes, coaches, parents, trainers, heads and members of the various technical working committees for their dedicated and tireless efforts in their exemplary performance in the prestigious Palarong Pambansa 2023. Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the CARAA delegation and the Department of Education– Cordillera for their information, guidance, ready reference and
further needed action.
