City mobile vaccination effort hopes to reach unjabbed elderlies and PWD

The city government is revving up the dispatch of mobile vaccination teams to the different barangays in order to inoculate the senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) who are unable to go to vaccination sites, according to Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
During the city council’s regular session last Monday, Magalong said there are around 12,000 senior citizens in the city who have not yet received a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
With the mobile vaccination teams to be deployed to the different barangays, the city government hopes to expedite the inoculation of the most vulnerable sector.
Initiated by the City Health Services Office, the first mobile vaccination was conducted on May 20, 2021 to vaccinate the bedridden and non-ambulatory residents in the city.
Magalong said the barangay officials should coordinate with the district coordinator and register at least 20 senior citizens and PWDs in their barangays to be able to request for the dispatch of a mobile vaccination team. Senior citizens and PWDs who would like to avail of the city’s mobile vaccination services should inform their respective barangays, he added.
According to Magalong, since senior citizens and PWDs are still welcome in the vaccination sites, special lanes are dedicated to them to avoid exposing them to further health and safety risks.
He sought the help of Councilor Michael Lawana who heads the Liga ng mga Barangay to ensure that these residents with infirmities will
get their jabs at the soonest possible time.
Meanwhile, the chief executive said there will be more vaccination sites to open in the city to address the increasing number of residents who are convinced to get the vaccine.
