COCOPEA SUPPORTS THE GOVERNMENT’S NATIONAL ACTION PLAN ON UNITY, PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT

A Dialogue with Civil Society Organizations on the National Action Plan on Unity, Peace and Development was held on October 15, 2024 at La Breza Hotel, Quezon City to discuss the prospect of long-term peace, unity, and socio-economic development in the country. The event was organized through the leadership of Usec. Ernesto C. Torres, Jr., Executive Director of the NTF-ELCAC, who welcomed the participants from different civil society organizations and initiated the peaceful dialogue.

The CEAP delegation was composed of Fr. Albert N. Delvo, COCOPEA Chairperson and CEAP President, Atty. John R. Jacome, COCOPEA Executive Director, and Ms. Charina A. Claustro, CEAP National Advocacy Coordinator. The COCOPEA in a statement delivered during the event in response to the government’s efforts to achieve peace, unity and development: “The Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) is in solidarity with the government, particularly the NTF-ELCAC, in its ongoing peace efforts through the National Action Plan on Unity, Peace and Development.”

It said: “We support and manifest our willingness to contribute to long-term peace, unity, and socio-economic
development in communities, especially those belonging to the peripheries to whom peace and justice seem to be elusive.” “As an educational association, we echo NTF-ELCAC’s whole-of-nation approach through the holistic
formation of our students centered on peace, quality education and values development, both moral and
spiritual,” the COCOPEA statement said.

The COCOPEA statement added: “We recognize the significance of dialogue, collaboration and common efforts of various sectors and clusters to achieve peace, inclusivity, progress, and prosperity, focusing on environmental protection, poverty alleviation and improving the lives of the vulnerable sectors and the marginalized.”
