COMELEC STARTS PREPARATIONS FOR DEC. BARANGAY ELECTIONS

With the 2025 national and local elections done, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will now focus on the preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on December 1, 2025. “[Kapag] matapos natin lahat ng trabaho for the national elections, tututok naman tayo ngayon sa barangay elections sa December,” Comelec Cordillera Regional Director Julius Torres said. Torres said the Comelec will open the registration of voters for the barangay elections and applications for membership to the Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) in July. “Magkakaroon tayo ng voter registration in July. Based dun sa initial na resolution na ipinasa ng Comelec en banc, medyo limited lang.. to allow us also na ayusin din ‘yung listahan na gagamitin ng December,” Torres said.
The filing of certificates of candidacy is from October 1 to 7.

Comelec Resolution No. 11132 promulgated on April 21, 2025 states that the registration of voters for the BSKE and the membership application for KK are scheduled from July 1 to 11. The election period for the BSKE 2025 is from October 27 to December 31, 2025. The BSKE candidates will be given ten days to campaign from November 20 to November 29. The casting of votes on election day, December 1, 2025, is from 7AM to 3PM. The counting and canvassing of votes and proclamation of winning candidates will take place immediately after the closing of polls.
