Cordillera student-athletes hardwork paid off. They delivered drama ,grit and emotion. As of press time, CARAA’s performance improved to 9th place in overall standing from its 13th position in the 2024 edition of the Palaro. Ace archer Chass Mhaiven Colas of Baguio City
National High School (BCNHS) harvested three golds (50-meter and 70-meter distances and 1440 Round) to highlight Cordillera Administrative Athletic Association’s (CARAA) campaign. Colas posted two Palaro records in archery — 50- meter distance and 1440 Round to punctuate his sterling performances. Colas also got silvers in 60- meter and 30-meter distances, respectively.
Taekwondo jins Chezka Nicollete Luzadas and Zion Ysabelle Buenviaje of UB High School and UB Labor at or y, respectively, sparked the region medal haul, captured two golds each. Luzadas ruled the taekwondo Poomsae Mixed Pair and Team event for the top honor and also got two silvers, while Buenviaje triumphed in Taekwondo Poomsae Freestyle and Team tussles. CARAA’s Secondary Division demonstrated an impressive fight en route to 14- 8-6 (g-s-b) , while the Elementary Division posted 2- 4-2 (g-s-b). As per sports, the region tallied 9-5-2 (g-s-b) in taekwondo; archery had 4-2 (g-s); wushu 3-3-2 (g-s-b); wrestling had one silver and two bronze; arnis got one silver; and athletics one silver.
Student-athletes also fought gallantly in other sports disciplines.
