Cordillera churns out 200 rookie cops

CAMP BADO DANGWA, LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of 200 newly appointed Patrolman/Patrolwoman took their oath as members of the Philippine National Police in a simple ceremony
on Wednesday.
The 170 males and 30 females who are among the Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) the products of the Regular Recruitment Program quota for 2020 trooped to the regional headquarters here for the first day of their six-month training.
PROCOR chief Brig. Gen. R’Win Pagkalinawan, who administered the oath to the new police officers, urged the members to help in the anti criminality campaign of the organization.
“You must be a good example and not be the scalawags who are being hunted down. Endeavor to do the right thing under every circumstance because only in this way that you will be able to provide the level of service the community deserves and to really begin the work of making a difference in the lives of others” Pagkalinawan said. He also told the new policemen to work together to be the officers that the public demands and expects them to be.
During the activity, the new policemen were also handed their new Landbank of the Philippines ATM cards where their salaries as patrolmen and women will be deposited. As patrolmen and patrolwomen, they will receive a basic monthly salary of PHP29,668, aside from allowances and other non-cash benefits.
They will be turned over to the Cordillera Administrative Region Training School at Teachers Camp in Baguio City where they will undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) for
six months.
It would be followed by another six months of the field training program, which will qualify them for permanency.
The new police officers will fill up the vacant slots as a result of the death, dismissal, and retirement of personnel assigned in the region. (PNA)
