Dandasana pose

Dandasana is the first sitting position of the Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series. The pose helps activate the thyroid gland which regulates metabolism and many body functions by releasing hormones into the bloodstream. Legs are active here to develop leg strength; the students are also learning to straighten their spine, hence improving the posture.
