DTI-CAR nets P77K in penalties from erring La Tri, Baguio businesses

Some 13 business establishments in the city and in La Trinidad, Benguet were penalized for unfair trade practices, according to the Department of Trade Industry –Cordillera (DTI-CAR). As a result, these establishments engaged in
vehicle repairs, appliances and telephone gadgets were metted a total of P77 fines. In the Kapihan sa Bagong
Pilipinas, marking Consumer Welfare Month , Lawyer Samuel Gallardo, DT-CAR Assistant Regional Director said as of September 30 (2024), their agency have received 54 complaints from consumers.
Majority of these complaints which were resolved are deceptive parts, product warranty, and liabilities of product and services. In other development, also in the Kapihan held at New Town Plaza Hotel (Oct 16), Regional Director Regina May Cajucom of the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC-CAR), said eight cases were filed on its anti-scam drive mostly Ponzi investment practices. Marking Consume Welfare Month, nine business establishments were recognized in Bagwis Awards for their compliance to consumer laws, effective customer relations and efficient store management, and corporate social responsibilities, among others.
These are : Industrial and Transport Equipment, Inc; Blue Oval Automotive Corp; RKH Convenience Store (7-Eleven); Treasure Link Cooperative; Pines Seamless Mobile, Inc; Golden Z Convenience Store; Pacific Marketplace; Cordillera Overseas Contract Workers and Families MPC; and La Trinidad Women’s Brigade.
