DOH encourages vaccination

The vaccines that we give are the vaccines that we have been giving in the previous years and we have seen that they were effective,” said Geeny Anne I. Austria, Nurse V from the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health Center for Health Development Cordillera during the Kapihan sa Baguio held at the DOH Regional Training Center on May 16, 2019.
Austria said that measles, at the moment, is already controlled and a decrease of transmission was recorded. She added that before, health workers go to every barangay, now, they are reaching every purok.
She said that no children should be left behind. Health workers should look for the children and see if all are already vaccinated.
She calls out to the parents to bring their children to the nearest health center or to private doctors of their preference. Vaccination, according to Austria, is the best intervention.
For new parents, Austria suggested that they ask their doctors or health workers about vaccination especially if they have doubts. The DOH will do its part to answer the questions.
She said that health workers are the right people to approach, to explain and give information about immunization.
