LAGAWE,Ifugao(PIA) – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released more than P32 million through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program to three local government units (LGUs) in the province.
DOLE-Ifugao Chief Labor Officer Dr. Isabelita Codamon awarded the checks to the LGUS of Alfonso, Kiangan and Lagawe that serve as accredited co-partners in the implementation of the TUPAD program to assist workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The amount is intended for the payment of wages of TUPAD workers who performed social community projects in said municipalities.
LGUAlfonso Lista received Php19, 688,616.00 for the 2,656 workers; Kiangan got Php956, 019.00 for the 129 workers and Php11, 739,024.00 for Lagawe with 1, 584 workers.
In addition, the TUPAD workers received also personal protective equipment such as long-sleeved shirt, rubberized hand gloves, face shield and face mask and a micro group insurance with the Government Service Insurance System.
As DOLE intervention during this pandemic, the TUPAD program provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
This program is a big help in providing hope in this trying times.
