EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

Personnel of the National Housing Authority Region 1 and CAR inspected and assessed damaged houses in Lagayan, Abra, the epicenter of the recent magnitude 6.4 earthquake. Initial reports from the local government unit of Lagayan listed more than 200 partially or totally damaged houses in the municipality. Some damaged houses were aggravated from the earlier 7.0 magnitude quake that hit Abra last July 27.

The inspection and assessment conducted will support proposals for appropriate housing assistance programs. NHA is set to provide cash assistance under its Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) to affected households in support of on-going rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
