ELDERLY SOLON PUSHES SENIORS PENSION BILL

La Union

United Senior Citizens Partylist Representative Milagros Magsaysay has refiled the Universal Social Pension Bill for the 20th Congress. Magsaysay said the Bill has been approved on third and final reading at the House of Representatives on May 21, 2024 but was stalled at the Senate for eight months and until the 19th Congress adjourned session. “The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved on third and final reading House Bill 10423 to push for the passage of the measure granting a monthly stipend of P500 to all senior citizens, 60 years old and above. The bill was transmitted to the Senate of the Philippines but it has not been put into their agenda,” Magsaysay said. It was learned that the bill has not been calendared in the Senate before the Congress adjourned session last February 07, 2025 in preparation for the midterm elections. Magsaysay said that around 12 million senior citizens all over the country will be benefited from the Bill especially those in dire need for government support on their daily necessities and medical needs. Magsaysay believed that the passage of the measure will be a great advantage to the elders.
