Entry Of P45.9M Benguet MJ Into Phl Drug Market Foiled

La Trinidad Benguet (June 5, 2021) – Marijuana plantations on two sites were overran by government operatives in remote Kibungan town in Benguet on Friday, foiling the entry of 12 sacks of dried marijuana leaves worth P45,915,000.00 into the drug trade route to the lowlands.

Cordillera police intelligence chief Col. Elmer Ragay said they pinpointed two MJ plantations tucked in the mountains at sitio Palwa, Sagpat, Kibungan, Benguet and went on to uproot P2.59M worth of cannabis (12,950 shrubs.

While scouring adjacent areas, operatives stumbled into 12 sacks of marijuana dried leaves, seeds and stalks ready for transport, and with total worth amounting to P43, 325,000 apparently concealed about 300 meters away from the overran plantations.

Meanwhile.  Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said a drug pusher considered as a “high value individual” is going to be tried in court for violation of RA 9165 or Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 after he was caught  in a sting operation by Benguet police assisted by PDEA agents Friday morning.

Marcos Ramos Valdez, 44 , from barangay Ambiong, here sold a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu weighing 0.80 gram and pegged to reach P 5,440.00 to an undercover agent.
