FAMILY OF FOUR PERISHES AS VAN PLUNGES INTO KALINGA RAVINE

All members of a family of four died on the spot after their white Starex van plunged into a deep ravine along the Chico River Saturday morning in sitio Gonogon, Bagumbayan, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
The victims were identified as Marcelo Banggawan; his wife Marivic Sagyaman; their two children Marvin Sagyaman, 27, and Azrel Sagyaman,12; all residents of Sakpil, Conner town in Apayao.
According to the Tabuk City police, the family which came from Barangay Lubon, Tadian, Mountain Province were on their way home via Kalinga when the accident occurred.
Investigators are still deep into looking at the real cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, a lady staff member of a local news publication Guru Press-Cordillera was robbed at gunpoint by riding-in-tandem thieves at around 7:00 AM Saturday near the old police substation in Barangay Ipil, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
According to Guru Press, the staff was on board a motorcycle when she was cut off by robbers in tinted helmets, one wearing a gray shirt and the other a black jacket.
When the staff stopped, one of the riders pointed a gun at her. She reportedly pleaded but she was shoved causing her to fall to the ground.
The suspects took her cellular phone, and wallet and also carted her away with her motorcycle.
