BAGUIO CITY (November 1, 2021) -A farmer immediately died upon impact after the Elf 6-wheeler truck he was driving fell into a 60-meter deep ravine Sunday at Sitio Bato, Barangay Bashoy, Kabayan, Benguet.
Marfil Liwan Sumakey, according to the Kabayan police, was descending on the road when his truck tires slipped due to the sand and gravel scattered along the road.
Sumakey lost control of the truck and plunged straight to the ravine.
The impact instantly killed Sumakey while the truck incurred heavy damages.
Kabayan Mayor Basilio Louie Daoal Jr. ordered the immediate cleaning of the stones and sand along the road to avoid further accidents.
In San Juan, Ilocos Sur, a motorcycle rider was declared dead-on-arrival moments after his motorcycle rammed into a concrete post dawn Monday along the National highway in Barangay Bannuar.
Jasfer Dennis Pichay Paranada, 27, from Barangay Alinaay, Cabugao town, also in Ilocos Sur, was heading North. Upon reaching the bend lost control of his vehicle and went straight a concrete post.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to the Pira Clinic and Hospital in Cabugao but did not make it. He suffered a fatal injury on his head and multiple injuries on the different parts of his body.
Meanwhile, a fisherman was found unconscious and believed to be electrocuted also Monday morning at the river in Barangay Namruangan, Cabugao town also in Ilocos Sur.
Eduardo Coloma Saturno, 56, according to the Cabugao police was last seen fishing along the river using an electrical apparatus connected to his house some 40 meters away.
The victim though forgot to disconnect the electric apparatus before collecting his cath prompting his electrocution.
He was rushed to the Pira Clinic and Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His body bore traces of burns.
