Fil-Chinese serves 1,000 poor residents in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY – Over 1,000 indigents residents were served during the outreach program of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., implemented by the Baguio Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BFCCC) Inc., with the help of the Baguio Lions Club International District 301-C, on Sunday  at Barangay Bakakeng, here.
“Malaking tulong ito sa kagaya kong mahirap na makunsulta ang aking sakit na diabetes, pati ang dalawa kong anak na libreng napabunot ang sirang ngipin at sakit na asthma (this is a big help to the less fortunate like us because I was able to have my diabetes checked. Also my children had free tooth extraction and check-up of their asthma),” said Linda of Barangay Crystal Cave, who was among those who benefited from the outreach activity.
Peter Ng, president of the BFCCC, said the giving of free services for medical, dental as well as the distribution of eyeglasses is a program of the Filipino-Chinese community to give a little happiness by providing medical help to the poor residents who have difficulties of bringing themselves to get medical attention.
“Kasiyahan din namin ang makatulong sa kapuwa, na kahit kami ay abala sa mga negosyo ay naglalaan kami ng oras at pinansyal para sa mga programa sa ating mga mahihirap na kababayan sa lungsod (no matter how busy we are, we also find happiness whenever we help the other people by allotting funds to the programs for the poor),” Ng said.
He expressed thanks to the Lions Club International District 301C-Cordillera, which has 13 groups in Baguio City, for their contribution in providing doctors and volunteers to make the program feasible.
The 13 groups are the: Baguio City Host Lions Club, Baguio Pines City Lions Club, Baguio Everlasting Lions Club, Benguet Optometrists Lions Club, Baguio Magnolia Lions Club, Baguio Kindasan Lions Club, Cordillera Adivay Lions Club, Metro-Baguio Lions Club, Baguio Burnham Lions Club, Baguio Downtown, SLU Medicine Campus Lions Club and the Baguio Chrysanthemum Lions Club.
