A former board member of Mountain Province was shot and killed last Sunday after an altercation with a still unidentified assailant in Paracelis town.
Carino Saguid Tamang was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital early evening on Sunday after he was shot during an altercation at Dagawe in Poblacion, Paracelis.
Tamang and the suspect had a confrontation at around 6:45 PM leading the latter to draw his gun and fire at Tamang, reports said. The victim was rushed to the Paracelis District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians.
Police apprehended the suspect and are under custody for further investigation. The identity of the assailant has not been established as of
press time.
Tamang served for consecutive terms in 2007 until 2013 and was elected into the same post in 2016 and served until 2019.
On October 8 last year, he filed his certificate of candidacy for the same position under the Nacionalista Party. He also served as a barangay capatain of Poblacion Paracelis from 1997 to 2002.
Tamang is survived by wife, Emma Fagyan Tamiing, of Lanao, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province. They have four children.
