Let’s bring more gov’t services to grassroot levels
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
Governor Melchor Diclas said his HEALTHIER advocacy remains his top priority. In his short yet impactful message right after taking his oath of office, Gov. Diclas outlined some of his top programs like providing medical services and expanding the province’s scholarship program. Diclas, himself a medical doctor, vowed to finish the construction and improvement of some hospitals such as the Benguet General Hospital and Kapangan District Hospital.
He added that for these hospitals to operate fully, they need modern medical equipment and apparatus like MRI machines, as well as the hiring of medical personnel and professionals in related fields. On education, he vowed to expand the beneficiaries of the enacted provincial scholarship program to two students from each of the 13 municipalities. Under the said program, one student from each barangay in the 13 municipalities in Benguet is given the opportunity to study with ₱20,000 financial assistance yearly or ₱10,000 per semester. He urged his fellow public servants to give more time to public service at the grassroots level, pointing out that “it is our own common goal” as he delved on other equally important projects. Early in his speech, Diclas—now on his last term—expressed his gratitude to all whose steadfastness in delivering services has shaped what Benguet is today.
