Governor Ramon V. Guico III will step on the gas further and will implement more high impact projects to improve the lives of the nearly three million Pangasinenses as he enters his second term. The governor last Monday during his first flag ceremony after securing his second term said that health, education, livelihood and tourism will be his main focus anew. For health, Gov. Guico will continue to modernize on the 14 provincial government operated hospitals assuring his constituents that they will not only put-up of additional buildings but will also procure state-of-the-art equipment to bolster health reform and provide the best healthcare services for the people. The government has recently provided an MRI machine at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City.
With the completion of Phase 1 of the Super Community Hospital in Umingan town, the provincial government is ready to start Phase II. At the same time, Guico said, Phase 1 of the new Alcala community hospital will be started. The hospital is a joint project with the municipal government which provided the lot where it will be constructed on. The governor said also said that two dialysis centers were established during his first term. The first at the Western Pangasinan District Hospital (WPDH) in Alaminos City while another was placed at the Lingayen District Hospital (LDH) which is set to open after completing necessary requirements needed to operate.
Two dialysis centers will be also built in Bayambang and Mangatarem in the next three years. Gov. Guico will push for the continuation of the Konsulta with the Guiconsulta project that is aimed to register two million registered Pangasinenses with the PhilHealth. “Let us not toy with the lives of the people especially those that involve healthcare,” he added. Gov. Guico said that more infrastructure projects will be implemented including roads, bridges, flood controls, solar-powered streetlights, and the completion of the redevelopment of the Capitol Complex. Last May 1, the reflecting pool was test run that amazed locals.
He will pursue also the vision of transforming Pangasinan as the “Singapore of the North,” Gov. Guico is determined to deliver his best effort to finish Phase 1 of the 11-story Capitol Tower and convention center. “As a leader and as a governor, I have gambled so to speak on focusing on big-impact projects that will be enjoyed by many generations to come here in Pangasinan,” he said. Guico will also also intensify efforts in providing free education to indigent locals with the establishment of the Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) campus in Lingayen where 700 Pangasinense youth scholars are enrolled. Guico said that with the opening of two more campuses, one in Umingan and another Bugallon,. Some 700 new scholars will be provided with free education.
“We will still pursue establishing a campus in Umingan and in establishing a campus in Bugallon because that is where we think that we can spread our resources and utilize the resources that we have,” the governor said as he added that part of the plan includes the establishment of schools of law and medicine in the offing. Guico also said that the establishment of the P238-million Bangus Breeding and Hatchery Project located in Bolinao will be realized soon. Once established, the hatchery project projects food security for Pangasinan and a leap for country’s agriculture as well.
