GOV. GUICO VOWS TO FOCUS ON HEALTH, EDUCATION, TOURISM, AGRI

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan

Re-elected Governor Ramon Guico III has emphasized his commitment to focus on health, education, agriculture, tourism infrastructure, and community outreach during his second
term in Pangasinan province. During his inaugural ceremony, he highlighted the importance of connecting with communities and nurturing long-term projects that started in his first
term, such as the Pangasinan Link Expressway, the Guiconsulta program for medical consultations, and the establishment of the Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC). Healthcare remains a top priority for Guico. He aims to strengthen healthcare services, emphasizing that a healthy society is crucial for success. The provincial government plans to enroll at least 2 million residents in the Konsulta program, which offers comprehensive outpatient benefits as part of the Universal Health Care Law.

Under the Guiconsulta initiative, transportation and food allowances are provided to PhilHealth members accessing free medical services. As of May this year, about 600,945 residents have used these services, with 81 hospitals and clinics, mostly government facilities, accredited as providers. Guico plans to continue building new hospitals, such as a Super Community Hospital, and establish specialized centers for heart, lung, clinical, and cancer care. In the field of education, he announced the expansion of PPC campuses and the establishment of a
School of Medicine and Health Sciences to train future healthcare professionals. The Commission on Higher Education recently awarded PPC Lingayen a Certificate of Program Compliance for multiple bachelor programs, which Guico sees as a step toward providing better education to the youth.

Guico also unveiled tourism projects aimed at enhancing the province’s appeal, including redeveloping the Capitol Complex with new facilities and flood mitigation initiatives. He
launched a community outreach program providing medical and dental consultations, free laboratory services, health packs, and meals to residents. This program aims to ensure that
government services reach grassroots communities rather than just being focused on the capital. In agriculture, Guico has tasked key officials to secure funding to assist farmers
through corporate farming initiatives, although he acknowledged that low buying prices for palay remain a challenge despite increased yields and reduced production costs. He urged the citizens of Pangasinan to continue their support for provincial projects and expressed gratitude to those who backed him in the last elections.
