LINGAYEN, Pangasinan

Governor Ramon V. Guico III assured to support more agri-based programs including the Department of Agriculture’s Kadiwa program on his second term. Guico said that supporting such programs will bolster agricultural production that will help farmers increase their yields and marketability. The DA’s Kadiwa program aims to fortify the farm-to-market supply chain by providing direct link of local
producers with consumers. The Kadiwa is one of the national government’s agri-based programs which the Guico administration is actively promoting.

It was launched in 2022 by the provincial government thru the Provincial Agriculture Office and since then, it has intensified the promotion of the program. In January 2024, the provincial government gave it a local tone when it named it the Kadiwa na Kapitolyo, and
is held twice a month at the Capitol Complex. Provincial Agribusiness and Marketing Service Coordinator Ramy Sison said that it started with 20 exhibitors which more than doubled. He said that the province has already conducted 97 Kadiwa related activities with support from different Local Government Units (LGUs) and various partner agencies.

The total sales have reached P20,985,234.60 and helped 2,582 exhibitors, whiole also serving around 55,710 households, Sison said. The Kadiwa provides an opportunity for farmers/ fisherfolks and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to introduce their products directly to the public. Kadiwa offers safe, fresh and affordable food products like rice, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, fish and meat
products, native delicacies, among others.
