Jerome Palaoag (2nd, right) and Tita Bugtong, councilors of Tuba, Benguet, flanked Roy Mangali, AVP at Philex Mining Corp. and assistant resident manager of the company’s Padcal mine, in a souvenir photo after formal ceremonies for the turn-over of and the signing of agreements for social projects involving the miner’s outlying communities. Philex Mining turned over P55.59 million worth of infrastructure projects to this town’s Brgy. Camp 3 and four other host and neighboring villages from Tuba and Itogon which, collectively, are called “outlying communities.” Also in photo, taken on April 18 at Padcal mine’s Smith Hall, in Brgy. Camp 3’s Sitio Padcal, are Lionel Wanawan (right), manager of Legal Dept., Padcal, and the mine’s manager for Community Relations (ComRel) Dept., Aurora Dolipas (3rd, left, front row), as well as the elders and other leaders from Brgy. Camp 3 and some representatives from Tuba. Of the total amount, P51.74 million covered the projects carried out through the company’s Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) while P3.85 million involved Community Development Program projects. These projects form part of the 2017 budget as well as the unspent funds carried over from the previous years. Philex Mining also signed a memorandum of agreement with each of its outlying communities on the projects to be implemented this year. SDMP is being implemented in areas where a miner has ongoing operations while CDP is for areas undergoing exploration. PR
