Itogon, the Land of Golden Opportunities

The province of Benguet has so much to offer like for example the first class municipality and the land of golden opportunities, Itogon. However, I will not write down about the tons of gold but what else can this municipality offer aside from it. Do you know that because of its hot temperature, different fruits like papaya, star apple, mango, coconut and banana can actually grow in this place? You can go to Itogon Municipal and look at the plants surrounding it; you will see that these plants bear fruits.

As the municipality of Tuba has hot spring separate from each other, Itogon is better known also for their “Trese” the thirteen swimming pools, owners built in one place as one of their tourist attraction. Itogon might not have a cave of their own to show to the public but they have an underground tunnel at Balatoc, Barangay Virac used by miners before and now.

Now let’s move on, Cordillera is known for its mountains and more mountains to hike. Itogon actually has so much to offer if you allow yourself to be an explorer and take a little adventure to the North then choose Itogon. So here we go, first, I know you have heard of Mt. Ugo. Second, Mt. Ulap, Mt. Pigingan at Brgy. Dalupirip which I guarantee you is a very beautiful place because I have been there three times of my life and it is breath-taking I tell you. Another mountain to hike is what they call Ave Maria at Mt. Badiwan at Brgy. Poblacion. The hanging bridge, the rice fields, the river, the mountains the whole scenery can be titled as “a life of contentment” if it will be painted which is actually mystical I shall say. I don’t know, water and nature has a way of calmness, it gives therapeutically mode of healing from the inside like mentally, spiritually, and socially. Do you get what I mean? Oh iKit, you better get out from your comfort zone.

Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan says that he hopes that residence shall not depend on working at mining alone but also livelihood like farming and livestock for the municipality has so much to offer. Executive Assistant II Municipal Livelihood Coordinator Patrick Alcedo says that aside from farming and livestock they also have livelihood like tailoring, food processing, handicraft, and rice retailing, depending on each barangays needs and request.

When you open your heart iKit, you will get to see what our society needs that’s when you have the time to walk a little farther than usual. Imagining yourself like them and think like them. In the Bible Galatians 6:10 “As we have have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith”.
