La Union had new 7 positive COVID-19 cases – DOH

SAN FERNANDO CITY, March 31 (PIA) – The Department of Health Region 1 released 7 new cases of positive Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) which makes La Union has total of 9 cases in the province.
This was reported in the latest bulletin of the DOH region 1 at about 5:00 p.m. of March 31.
The cases include 1 from the towns of Bauang, Sto. Tomas, San Juan, and Naguilian; 2 from Agoo; and 1 additional case in Caba aside from the recent two cases.
Gov. Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III who also later confirmed the report of the health department by releasing an official statement posted on the provincial government’s social page.
“Three patients belong to the age group of 50 to 59 years old, three belong to the age group of 60 to 69 years old and one 72 years old,” Ortega told.
In the new cases, Ortega informed that three had passed away even before the results of their swab test came out. The patient from San Juan died last March 26, from Bauang last March 27, and from Agoo last March 28.
The remaining patients, one is currently admitted at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in San Fernando City, while 2 at the La Union Medical Center in Agoo town to be transferred to ITRMC, and the other one is under strictly home quarantine.
Ortega assured that the provincial government, under his leadership, continues to take the necessary measures to contain and prevent the spread of the virus in the province.
Also, he recognized the efforts and services of the frontliners who are doing their best in the fight against COVID-19.
The towns of Agoo and Naguilian, released immediately heightened protocols to curb the spread of the virus in their locality.
Mayor Stefanie Ann Eriguel of Agoo has declared municipal-wide lockdown effective yesterday (March 31).
In Naguilian, Mayor Nieri Flores imposed strict lockdown to four sitios of Barangay Baraoas Sur, where the patient resides, and one sitio of adjacent Barangay Baraoas Norte.
