LA UNION ROLLS OUT BALLOT BOXES

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union

The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) through the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO) together with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) La Union Provincial Office has commenced the distribution of official ballots, accountable forms, and other paraphernalia to all towns in the province on May 4, 2025, in preparation for the upcoming National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025.
Provincial Treasurer Janet Molina together with COMELEC La Union Election Assistant Marku Dominik Lavaro led the ceremonial
unsealing and opening of the delivery truck containing the election paraphernalia at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, City of San Fernando, La Union.

PGLU and COMELEC received the 840 official ballot boxes and 20 boxes of indelible inks followed by a thorough inspection and immediately turned-over to the Local Government Units (LGUs). In her speech, Molina underscored the province’s commitment to fair, accountable and transparent electoral system. “I assure you that we are committed to an open and accountable process. Together let us ensure that the electoral process in our beloved La Union is the one that reflects the true will of our people,” she said.

According to Lavaro, the ballot boxes will be stored in the municipal treasury offices until they are distributed to the clustered polling precincts on the election day. Lavaro assured the public that all the distributed ballot boxes are complete and utmost precaution will be reinforced to ensure stringent safekeeping. We are always committed to transparency, the Comelec is very hands-on in the electoral
process. We want to show the public our well-organized preparations,” Lavaro remarked.

In attendance were representatives and observers from the Philippine National Police (PNP), COMELEC, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), and local municipal treasurers. Members of the media along with representatives from various political parties and the European Union Election Observers also attended the activity. The distribution of election paraphernalia reaffirms
the province’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election. The distribution process also complies with Section 104 of the Omnibus Election Code (Batas Pambansa Blg. 881) and relevant COMELEC resolutions to ensure transparency, accountability, and order in the handling of election materials. The activity remained orderly and peaceful through the assistance of personnel from the La Union Police Provincial Office.
