Lawyers volunteer to aid Benguet farmers

La Trinidad, Benguet (February 18, 2022) – “Illegal importation is just a tip of the iceberg with problems hounding our farmers, the very reason why we founded, Farmers for Lawyers, lawyer Richard Kilaan declared at the launch of the Lawyers for Farmers (LFF) here Friday.
Wen wants to help our farmers in particular and the agricultural sector in general”, Kilaan said, explaining LFF is composed of lawyers and other volunteers for farmers’ rights and legal initiatives.
It is a group defending the rights of farmers, with the advocacy to inform, educate and empower the farmers.
LFF will assist the farmers in litigation processes, will regularly conduct legal awareness training, and will actively participate in policy intervention and campaigns for our farmers to benefit and have equal access to justice.
In Benguet, there are a lot of farmers who can’t afford legal services, LFF is here to make changes, Kilaan said. The Benguet farmers need help, we are here to help, he stressed. Kilaan likewise called on other lawyers to help our farmers.
“We would like to encourage other lawyers to join hands with Lawyers for Farmers in these endeavors, let us defend our farmers from oppression and unfair competition”, he added.
