Local golfers score in 16th edition of EMA Cup

The 16th edition of the EMA Cup Golf Tournament, a one-day fun tournament of-  former Congressman, now City Councilor Edgar M. Avila successfully teed off, July 8, 2017, at the Baguio Country Club. Almost 150 local par busters dominated the list of players who supported the golf-for-a-cause as announced by Tournament Director Dr. Willy Occidental.
Joseph Rimando, incoming-  president of the beneficiary Rotary Club of Downtown Session, assured the golfers and sponsors that the activity would augment the funding of their medical missions, feeding programs, the scholarship program and other worthy projects which his board will decide on. Likewise, the proceeds will also fund the-  maintenance and upkeep of the Emergency-Medical Assistance-Ambu-Transport which has been made available for Baguio patients as transportation.
The past EMA Cup series of tournaments raised almost P5M, a large chunk of which were turned over to the BGHMC for dialysis patients while the rest went to outreach projects of the club.
EMA Cup started way back in 1995 when then President Fidel  V. Ramos personally led the ceremonial tee-off at the old Camp John Hay Golf Course. It was for the benefit of the PFVR Center and Action Inc. From then on, the series went on finding its new home at the luscious greens of the Baguio Country Club.
During the awarding ceremony at the club, Avila and Rimando thanked the sponsors for their unselfish support to the golf tourney.

Meantime, during the awarding ceremonies Rotary Dagupan President Ashok Vasandani turned over for disposition by EMA Cup founder Ed Avila ten additional wheel chairs and nebulizers and pledged continued support of the projects. Likewise, Chi Jian Li reiterated his donation of eight school classrooms. Two rooms have just been finished at the Elpidio Quirino Elementary School while construction started at the Quezon Hill Elementary School.
