Mabanag Justice Hall now Senator Alejo R. Mabanag Building

The Provincial Board of La Union has officially renamed the Mabanag Justice Hall to Senator Alejo R. Mabanag Building, a property owned by the Provincial Government of La Union which was built in honor of the former Secretary of the Department of Justice and Senator of the Philippines, the late Hon. Alejo Ragojo Mabanag of Bangar, La Union.

Board Member Jennifer C. Mosuela authored Ordinance No. 190-2019 which paved way for the renaming. The ordinance was passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, led by Vice Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega, on August 20, 2019.

BM Mosuela said that for many years, the Mabanag Justice Hall housed among others, the Courts of Justice. The Mabanag Justice Hall was converted to host offices of some line agencies with the new Justice Hall at Barangay Sevilla, including the La Union Agri-Tourism Center.

Mosuela also said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan may, in consultation with the Philippine Historical Commission, change the name of any public place or building owned by the provincial government within its territorial jurisdiction under the Local Government Code of 1991.

Meanwhile, Vice Gov. Ortega expressed his full support to the ordinance as it will allow the young to remember the notable accomplishments and good deeds of the senator.
