The second Malasakit Center opened in Mountain Province at the Bontoc General Hospital. Senator Lawrence “Bong” Go joined thru a virtual platform with Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., Vice Gov. Francis Tauli, Cong.Maximo Dalog Jr., and representatives from the offices of the Department of Health, Dept. of Social Welfare Development, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, PhilHealth and Bontoc General Hospital launched the 121st Malasakit Center at the provincial hospital in a blended ceremony on Friday, June 25, 2021.
This is the second Malasakit Center in Mt. Province after the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital in Abatan, Bauko, and the fifth in the Cordillera Region.
“Ang Malasakit Center ay one-stop shop na kung saan nasa loob na ng hospital ang apat na ahensya ng gobyerno na handang tumulong sa inyo hanggang sa maging zero balance ang bayarin nag pasyente sa ospital. Lumapit lang po kayo sa Malasakit Center at tutulungan kayo ng social worker para mabayaran ang gastusin sa mga hospitals,” Go said in his message.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop which brings together under one roof the Department of Health, DSWD, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office where patients may apply for medical assistance.
Wala pong pinipili and malasakit center, basta Pilipino ka, at poor at indigent patients ka ay tutulungan ka ng Malaskit Center,” the Senator said. Go added that the Office of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography which he chairs, will also provide a one-time fund of P10 million under the medical assistance of indigent patients for the months of July and August.
Meanwhile, Go also provided the 261 employees and 50 patients with financial assistance from the DSWD thru the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation. The senator also provided them with lunch and groceries, vitamins, facemasks, and face shields. He also raffled out 15 bicycles for the frontline workers of the BoGH and 15 computer tablets for children of the frontliners.
Dalog thanked the good senator for his generosity to the people of Mountain Province. He mentioned that aside from the Malasakit Centers, the Senator also provided funds for infrastructure services and a P5M Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation which benefited Grade 11 and Senior High School students in four municipalities of Mountain Province.
“Together with the Department of Health, we continue our collective mandate to offer effective and efficient health care services and assistance to our indigent constituents,” Dalog added.
