Man Kills Brother In Ilocos Sur Town Over Property Spat On Good Friday


BAGUIO CITY (April 3, 2021) — A man hacked to death his own brother at around 10:00 PM of April 2, 2021 (Good Friday) in Barangay San Juan, Cervantes town in Ilocos Sur.

The victim was identified as Joel Jacusalem Cudiamat, married and 47 years old.

The suspect was his younger brother Lolito Jacusalem Cudiamat Jr., 42, also living in the same barangay.

According to the investigation of the Cervantes police, the brothers were arguing on their properties, particularly their land. They started throwing stones at each other but were pacified by their relatives.

The Cudiamat brothers continued to argue until they both rushed to get their weapons.  The older brother got a knife while the younger one grabbed a bolo. They wrestled on the ground and the younger Cudiamat was able to hack his brother several times.

The victim suffered various fatal wounds.  He was rushed to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital (ISDH) but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

A minor, who tried to pacify the two fighting brothers was also injured, and was rushed to the hospital.

The suspect immediately surrendered to the responding cops. The police recovered  a 15 inch-knife and a 22-inch bolo from the crime scene.
