Marcos, Enrile Offer Prayers For PNoy Demise

BAGUIO CITY (June 24, 2021) –  Senator Imee Marcos in a public message extended her heartfelt condolences to the family of former President Benigno C. Aquino III, whom she described as her “classmate” in Congress from 1998 to 2007.   
“I will always treasure the memories of our long years together as freshmen legislators and members of a tiny opposition,” the lady solon said, adding,  “for beyond politics and much public acrimony, I knew Noynoy as a kind and simple soul.”
The Marcoses and the Aquino’s have been political rivals, though Marcos patriarch – former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was the fraternity brother of the Aquino patriarch – former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., in the University of the Philippines-based greek-lettered fraternity Upsilon Sigma Phi.
While former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, said to be the chief architect of Martial Law that sent PNoy’s father Benigno Jr. to jail,  also extended condolences to the former president’s sisters, relatives, friends and supporters of  the former President.

“We will pray for him as he travels to his final resting place in eternity,” the former Senate President said also in his public statement on PNoy’s passing. “May God bless him and be with him all the way to his eternal resting place.”
