Salda leaves an estimated P800M budget for 2025
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
Outgoing Mayor Romeo Salda of this capital town highlighted key accomplishments as constituents described him a man of integrity and a role model for how one should be dedicated to their service. Salda led the oathtaking and turnover ceremonies of local government unit officials last Wednesday (June 25) at the municipal gymnasium, witnessed by government, non-government officials, uniformed personnel ,and representatives from the various sectors of the community. In his turnover speech, the local chief executive, who was also elected as Provincial Board Member, appealed to his constituents to do away political intramurals, instead unite and support the new
administration led by incoming Mayor Roderick Awingan in order to sustain the progress and development of their town.
Salda said he shall be leaving an estimated P800 million for 2025 with the main bulk of P500.274 million as initial share from the National Tax Allocation (NTA) and locally sourced taxes amounting to P300M annually to include business taxes in the tune of P95M and revenues generated in the La Trinidad Trading Post/business enterprise amounting to P54M. Salda said among the projects he accomplished withy the active support of the town council are: Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) , Tourism building, Municipal Health Office ,and the expansion of a four-storey building.
Almost throughout his speech, the local chief executive expressed gratitude to his townmates, especially whose love and trust inspired him to include town’s 15K-strong senior citizens. Also he thanked his department heads as well as employees, regional line agencies and all the
stakeholders. Notably, Salda thanked the town council headed by Awingan for their support to his administration’s programs, projects and policies towards delivering services to their townmates. Midway, Salda advised incoming mayor Awingan to continue the town’s partnership with regional line agencies to accomplish the works to be done. Candidly, Salda thanked Awingan for the latter not to fight against him for the mayoralty post until his last term, drawing laughter from the crowd. He (Salda) revealed that he endorsed Awingan to
become the next mayor.
