Senior Typhoon Specialist David Michael V. Padua of Weather Philippines Foundation demonstrates the Buys Ballot’s Law (Wind Shifting) describing the relationship of the horizontal wind direction in the atmosphere to the pressure distribution, which means that if one stands facing the wind in the Northern Hemisphere, the storm (low pressure) will always be to the right. If facing the Southern Hemisphere the storm will always be to the left.
