NLEX CAGERS ATTRACT 80 KIDS IN BASKETBALL CLINIC

BAGUIO CITY

Some 80 individuals trooped to the University of Baguio gym Thursday morning to learn the basics from NLEX Road
Warrior coach Jong Uichico and “kuya” Robert Bollick and his team mates. From as young as 4 to as old as late teen, they came to learn the basics from the Philippine Basketball Association. “We have the youngest, a girl of four, and young teens who play for their school,” said Coach Allan Gregorio, who helped facilitate the basketball clinic at the home of the most bemedaled basketball team in the city. “Its good number,” said the former University of the Philippines coach.

The kids cheered and called on Bollick for a short message after the two hour clinic, hi later on signed shirts worn by the young players. The clinic came 17 days before the start of the new PBA conference as Uichico tries to build team spirit after taking over the cudgels from Frankie Lim who earlier suffered a hand injury. “I’ll just continue the
program by Coach Frankie and work on that,” Uichico told this writer. Uichico said that he has not much expectation of the team which finished ninth last conference, the All-Filipino, with a 4-7 win-loss card, just a win shy of the last and final quarterfinal slot taken by TNT Tropang Giga.

Uichico said that the team needs to play more games before the first toss is made. “They still need to play more games, we only had scrimmages,” said Uichico, who took over as head coach last June 7 after the team was eliminated by the Meralco Bolts, which went on to win its first ever crown.
