No party for Gamboa in Baguio, says Magalong

No such thing as a “mañanita” party was hosted by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Archie Gamboa in Baguio City over the weekend, the Baguio City police vouched amid “noise” at the social networking site Facebook that even a 3-man band played at the PNP Chief’s cottage at Navy Base compound during the party.
“It is fake news,” Baguio City police director Col. Allen Co said, though confirming Gamboa and a group arrived in the city Thursday evening for a supposed Saturday testimonial parade for the retiring police official by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
Gamboa, who is retiring next month, is a member of PMA class of 1986. A supposed low-key testimonial parade was to be given to (Gen.) Gamboa at the PMA, Co added, “but as I understand it, in deference to the current situation, the leadership of the DND, AFP and the honoree himself decided to forego with the activity.”
Though PMA spokesperson Captain Sheryl Tindog though said, (Gen.) Gamboa’s testimonial parade was cancelled by the AFP General Headquarters Thursday night.
“Bago sila umakyat, alam na nila cancelled yun,” (before they came up, they already knew it was cancelled), she said. Col. Co though vouched that all including (Gen.) Gamboa’s entourage registered at the “Returning Baguio Residents” online platform hdf.Baguio,gov.ph and all underwent triage, dispelling criticisms here that while Baguio residents find difficulties in obtaining travel permits, some government officials are given preferential treatment.
The exact number of the entourage of Gamboa was not immediately available. Gamboa also met Sunday with Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, also a member of PMA class of 1982, Cordillera region and Baguio police officials regarding the peace and order situation prevailing in the region, Co said.
But a screen shot of Senator Ronald dela Rosa’s message over at FB confirmed Gamboa’s group “had really a 3-man acoustic band to provide music during a private dinner.” Too bad, he continued, the reporter was not invited inside the CPNP cottage so he could have witnessed how protocols were observed during the private dinner.” Dela Rosa is Gamboa’s “mistah” (classmate) at the PMA.
