Nueva Vizcaya Inaugurates CSR and ER 1-94 Projects for 1,300 Beneficiaries

Host barangays of SN Aboitiz Power-Magat, Inc. in Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya inaugurated a deep well water supply project and a road-concreting project that together stand to benefit 259 households or over a thousand individuals.
Representatives of local government units and the hydro company held a program on August 30 at the barangay gymnasium of Butao, Diadi for the inauguration of the five units of deep wells in Barangay Arwas, four in Escoting, and three in Butao. The project, which benefits 229 households or about 1,145 residents, is expected to reduce dependence on private water sources and vulnerability of residents to water-borne diseases due to lack of a safe public water supply.
The wells were funded from the PHP200,000 provided to each barangay from SNAP’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program and the ER 1-94 fund managed by the Department of Energy. Under ER 1-94, a portion of electricity sales of all power generators goes to their host communities.
Diadi mayor Norma Miguel thanked SNAP-Magat for supporting development projects and training local government units on developing project proposals to better utilize the CSR fund. The barangay leaders committed to maintaining the deep wells and made plans to organize a water users’ association for the proper use and maintenance.
During the program, Barangay Escoting also inaugurated a 140-meter road-concreting project funded under ER1-94 program. The project would benefit about 30 households or 150 residents.
SNAP-Magat is a joint venture of SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower. It owns and operates the Magat Hydroelectric Power Plant on the border of Ifugao and Isabela with a capacity of 360-380 megawatts. PR
