P87 Million NEA subsidy

For the past weeks, the NEA Technical personnel inspected Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) Projects in the 33 sitios in Atok, Tublay, Kapangan, and Kibungan. The 33 sitios are part of the 79 sitios funded by the P87M subsidy released by NEA to BENECO in 2020.
Despite the extension granted to the contractor MN Electro to complete the projects until November 2021, the SEP project accomplishment in the four municipalities is merely 52% equivalent to Php13M out of the Php25M NEA subsidy allotted to the said municipalities.
The NEA team will continue to inspect the remaining 46 sitios located in Bakun, Bokod, Buguias, Kabayan, Mankayan, Sablan and Tuba.
Initial findings show the unusual absence of linemen of MN Electro in all the sitios inspected. Instead, a few unidentified linemen who immediately dispersed upon the arrival of the NEA team was found working in one of the SEP projects.
Given the extent of the delay, the Management asked MN Electro to explain their poor performance in timely completing the projects and to submit its catch-up plan for BENECO’s consideration.
The Management is also looking into other options on how to fast track the completion of the remaining SEP projects funded by the Php87M NEA subsidy that remains to be constructed.
