BAGUIO CITY
The people of Pangasinan especially the residents of Alcala town will soon see the rise of the 15th hospital in their province. Three weeks after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed a resolution authorizing Pangasinan Governor Ramon V. Guico III to sign a deed of donation to accept a 4,000-square meter lot in Barangay Poblacion East in Alcala, the construction of the newest addition to the medical facilities in the province will start. Stated in the SP resolution is that the “Municipality of Alcala, Pangasinan, represented by Mayor Jojo B. Callejo, purchased an unsegregated portion of 4,000 square meters from the 32,629 square meters parcel of land owned by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Urdaneta, Inc…”. Said land where the hospital will be built is registered under the name of the Municipality of Alcala.
Guico last year negotiated for the land in favor of Alcala town. The Alcala Community Hospital has an initial funding of P200 million. Once completed, the hospital will cater to the people from the municipalities of Alcala, Sto. Tomas and Bautista. The provincial government of Pangasinan meanwhile is also working out for the accreditation of Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) located in Bolingit, San Carlos City. The move is to upgrade PPH into a tertiary hospital. The construction of hospitals, upgrading of existing hospitals and medical facilities is part of the provincial government ‘s program in ensuring quality health care to the Pangasinenses.
