PGLU ENSURES SAFE, ENVI-FRIENDLY CAPITOL; PASSES STAGE 2 AUDIT WITH ZERO MAJOR NON-CONFORMTIES

With the continuous effort of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) to bring the best public service that kaprobinsiaan deserve, the Provincial Government successfully passed the Stage 2 Audit for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) with no major non-conformities identified on December 14, 2022 conducted at the Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union.

Among the good points evaluated were the top management and staff’s commitment in implementing the Integrated Management System and their awareness of its implementation; attainment of environmental objectives and programs and planning to achieve them; and the
acquisition of measuring equipment for the ambient air quality monitoring, the good results of air quality, and the training attended for the monitoring and measuring resources.

Notable improvements from stage 1 audit were the improvement of documented information related to EMS and OHS; and inclusion of the beneficial aspects and impacts. Specific well-rounded
Environmental Management Programs were also commended as well as the conducted Environmental, Health and Safety Trainings; and the provision of adequate Environmental, Health and Safety Personnel. Four Fire and Earthquake Drills were conducted and the grant of Menstruation Privilege to all Female Employees of the PGLU including district hospitals was
commendable.

More specific feedback and evaluations were provided to offices visited. Some minor non-conformities were also pointed out for PGLU’s immediate intervention and action. The Provincial
Government is committed to continuously level up the quality of service that improves the quality of life of the people and to attain the vision to position La Union as the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
